István Péter Papp
Project Manager at the Technology and Knowledge Transfer Centre at the Hungarian University of Sports Science
I started in the autumn of 2021 at the newly formed Projects and Innovation Centre at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF), and then in the summer of 2023, I continued my work at the Technology and Knowledge Transfer Centre under the leadership of the conference’s professional director.
I am specialised in project management and related grant writing in the following areas: domestic (Scientific Patronage, OTKA, TF TEKA, Egyetemi-ÖKO), R&D&I (e.g., Hu-rizont) and international (Jean Monnet and Erasmus tenders), as well as bilateral R&D (Ipari-TÉT). Additionally, in 2023, I developed the winning proposal supporting the financing of the 2024 University Games (EUG2024) at the university sports association, which provided significant experience in the administrative side of conference organization.
Upon arriving at TF, the acting director at the time entrusted me with the high-level administrative support of the university’s international projects and the coordination of proposals for submission to the EU Commission due to my strong international communication and organizational skills. In my current organizational unit, we support TF’s sports innovation project ideas with all available tools and participate in developing relationships between businesses and the university.
In April 2022, when the Hungarian Convention Bureau asked whether we wanted to apply, I did not know that the vision I created with the then International Director and Professor Gábor Géczi would grow into a global event of over 500 participants three years later. Sustainability, which is also the theme of the conference, personally interests me in both daily life and professional tasks, in addition to being a mainstream topic. The diversity of tasks and colleagues will result in organizing an event true to the legacy of EASM.
During our 2022 presentation in Innsbruck, we saw what a conference in a true sports city looks like, followed by the diverse program in Belfast. We aim to ensure an event with not only high professional content but also a good atmosphere, so participants can leave enriched by a lifetime professional event in one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals.
