Call For Paper
The Scientific Committee of the 33rd European Sport Management Conference of the European Association for Sport Management (EASM) invites scholars and practitioners to submit abstract and workshops contributions for consideration.
Deadline for Submissions: Wednesday 30th April 2025 (23.59 CET). Please note: No extensions will be permitted.
Importantly, please note the following conference policy:
- Presenter restriction: maximum of 2 presentations per participant; the presenting author (as indicated and, if needed, updated in the system by the submitting author) must have registered, paid the conference fee by 29th June 2025 (early bird: 500 EUR; PhD early bird: 400 EUR) or 31st July 2025 (standard conference registration, 620 EUR; PhD standard registration: 500 EUR) and presented the abstract at the conference to avoid exclusion from conference programme and book of abstracts.
- Please submit your abstract only once, as multiple submissions are not accepted.
- First-author restriction: maximum of 1 first-authorship; several co-authorships are possible
- Workshops restriction: minimum of 2 conveners from two different organizations
Types of submission expected:
- Abstracts submission opens the opportunity to give an oral presentation during a parallel session or a poster. The applicant chooses his/her preference for oral presentation or posters.
- Workshops are a proposal coming from at least two scholars from different organizations. They aim to share knowledge, encourage stimulating discussion and intellectual engagement between participants on a particular subtheme (i.e. a specific focus within a more general topic). Workshops convenors are in charge to gather their panel and submit a full proposal including abstracts of contributors. (Further information is provided below.)
Oral presentation sessions
In parallel sessions, every presenter gives a maximum 12-minute oral presentation with additional 5 minutes for discussion. Our parallel session topics are:

For the Poster Session, boards will be provided for all poster presenters to showcase their work during the conference. Posters should be a portrait style (A0 recommended, 84cm x 119cm).
Submission guidelines for oral presentation sessions
Abstract submissions should be made through the ConfTool system https://www.conftool.com/easm2025 by the stated deadline. Abstracts submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Abstracts not complying with submission guidelines will not be considered.
For an abstract to enter the review process and be considered for presentation during the conference the following guidelines must be adhered to:
- Length: the overall text length of an abstract has to be between 650 and 800 words, i.e. excluding title, author names and references (maximum 10 references).
- Text only: Abstracts should include text only, i.e. images (pictures, figures, and tables) are not accepted.
- Title: use a brief title to clearly indicate the nature of the research/project/contribution; capitalise the first letter of each word; do not use abbreviations in the title.
- Author names: provide names of all authors, their institutional affiliation, and e-mail address during the online submission process.
- Language: Abstracts must be in English language.
- Formatting and style guide: APA 7th edition.
Abstracts can be submitted in two categories:
1. Scientific Abstract (including scientific work to be submitted to the Poster Session).
2. Professional Practice Abstract (including practice contributions submitted to the Poster Session).
Category 1 – Scientific Abstracts should be structured using the following sections:
1. Aim and Research Questions
2. Theoretical Background and Literature Review
3. Research Design, Methodology and Data Analysis
4. Results/Findings and Discussion *
5. Conclusion, Contribution, and Implication *
6. References (maximum 10; to be entered in extra box during the submission process)
* In cases where the results/findings for a Scientific Abstract are not yet finally available at the time of abstract submission, authors must mention this by guaranteeing that they will have the results by the time of the conference. They should provide a preview of the nature of the results/findings as well as envisioned contribution/implications.
Category 2 – For Professional Practice Abstracts the following sections are required:
1. Statement that Abstract relates to professional practice (mandatory)
2. Purpose
3. Background
4. Design and Implementation
5. Outputs/Outcomes, Reflections and Future Development
6. References (if applicable)
Workshops
Convenors have to submit a proposal for the workshop, through the ConfTool system (https://www.conftool.com/easm2025) by the stated deadline. The proposal should include the following elements.
1. The theme/title of the proposed workshop with a short description of the relevance and aim of the proposed workshop (max. 500 words).
2. Contributors to the workshop:
a, Convenors: The names, institutions, email addresses, phone numbers, research fields, and short bio (about 100 words) of all convenors (min. 2, representing more than one country).
b, Contributors: Names of contributors, institutions, email addresses and title of their abstract.
3. Workshop abstracts
The overall text length of a workshop abstract has to be between 500 and 800 words, i.e. excluding title, author names and references (maximum 10 references). For further guidelines, refer to the “submission guidelines for oral presentation sessions”.
4. The desired format and ‘flow’ of the workshop
Please outline the point of difference from standardised session presentations.
