Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The Hungarian University of Sports Science, traditionally known as “TF,” is delighted to welcome the participants of the 33rd European Association for Sport Management Conference, themed ‘Sustainability in Sports Management’.
The Hungarian University of Sports Science is one of the oldest, most successful, and most significant institutions for physical education and sports science in Central Europe. Our mission is to become the leading sports and sports science university in the region, fostering innovation in education and research while preserving our traditional values.
We look forward to sharing knowledge, networking, and celebrating our common passion for Sport Management and its diverse fields at EASM 2025. There will indeed be much to celebrate. EASM 2025 will be special for several reasons. First, our university is celebrating its 100th anniversary, making the conference one of the highlights of this significant milestone. Additionally, the European Sport Management Quarterly marks its 25th year as one of the most prominent academic journals in sport management. Finally, but not least, it has been 30 years since Budapest last hosted this conference, in 1995.
The conference will take place in one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals, Budapest, where you can expect a warm welcome, a friendly atmosphere, and countless amazing sights to visit. Recently recognised as the world’s 10th biggest sports capital, Budapest has hosted numerous international sporting events, such as the 2023 World Athletics Championships, and has been home to many prominent international conferences. Its fascinating sports infrastructure is something we hope you’ll have the chance to explore.
We trust that delegates will not only have a unique EASM experience but will also leave with new colleagues, cherished memories, and a deep sense of satisfaction. We cordially invite you to join us at EASM Budapest and look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant city in September 2025.
Warm regards,
The Local Organising Committee
A century on track: a university of 100 faces
The Hungarian University of Sports Science, which is traditionally called „TF” by Hungarians, is going to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025. This fact puts the upcoming EASM conference in a different light because the university will have an opportunity to showcase its past and present to the conference participants.
TF was established in 1925 and has gone through a number of changes since then. It is one of the oldest, most successful and professionally acclaimed universities for physical education and sports science in Central Europe with nearly 4,000 students.
The university offers educational programs for physical education teachers, physiotherapists, coaches, sport managers, recreation, human kinesiology, health or sport science experts. This is the only university in Hungary where a PhD degree in sport science can be obtained, and TF serves as a career incubation space as well as a life-long professional support for our students and alumni.
As a result of our modern curriculum, multifunctional sports facilities and community spaces and events, our students enjoy the opportunity to obtain competitive knowledge that meets labour market requirements while accumulating lifelong experiences with unique TF student life. It is also the proud home of numerous Olympic champions, great sports coaches, educators and recreation experts.
TF is also attended by many elite athletes. One gold, three silver and two bronze medals were won by students of the university at the 2024 Paris Olympics, two gold and one silver medal was taken by students and staff of the university at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. In addition, six gold, three silver and eight bronze medals were won by students of the university at the 2024 European University Games.
TF is currently involved in a major campus reconstruction and expansion project. The campus’s old buildings used for educational purposes were renovated, and the new main building and the multifunctional sports complex was opened, thus opening up new ways of teaching, training and carrying out research on European level.
TF is an excellent host of great international events. The European Association for Sociology of Sport (EASS) conference (EASS2023 Budapest) was held by the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) between 30 May and 2 June, welcoming 120 PhD students from 50 European universities, while the international symposium called “2nd Biomechanics in Sport and Ageing Symposium: Artificial Intelligence” attracted almost 300 participants on 15 and 16 October 2024.
