Dr Erika Kendelényi-Gulyás
Senior lecturer of the Sport Economics and Decision Making Research Centre at the Hungarian University of Sports Science
Operational Director of the EASM2025 conference
I started my career at the Department of Sports Management of the Hungarian University of Sports Science in 2011 as a PhD student and an assistant lecturer. I received my doctoral degree in 2018. My area of expertise includes sports economics, sports management and sports analytics.
I have had the opportunity to participate in several national and international research projects over the past 10 years in the framework of the Sport Economics and Decision Making Research Centre. Since 2011, I have been teaching economics and sport economics courses at the university. In addition, I have also been the Head Coach of the Hungarian national adult synchronised skating team since 2012, with whom we managed to achieve 7th place at the 2023 World Championships.
The upcoming EASM 2025 conference is one of the most prestigious professional forums in the field of sports management, which will be hosted by the university in 2025. This is a great opportunity to bring the most current and recent research issues in sports management closer to the Hungarian professional community, and to give international participants a better understanding of our university and Hungarian sports life.
EASM 2025 will be special in many ways. Firstly, the university will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, and the conference is one of the most important highlight of the event series. In addition, the European Sport Management Quarterly is in its 25th year as one of the most prominent academic journals in sport management. Last but not least, Budapest hosted the conference for the last time 30 years ago in 1995.
In my opinion, the biggest challenge is to be able to say with pride at the end of the conference on 6 September 2025 that we have created an event of high quality that not only met the objectives we set, but that participants will look back with satisfaction, positive experiences and fond memories.
I am sure that the conference participants will enjoy a unique experience and Hungarian hospitality: in addition to the scientific programs, we will also offer exciting cultural and social events to make the conference a memorable experience of Hungarian virtue and hospitality.
The conference will also place special emphasis on the challenges of the Central and Eastern European region’s sports market and will showcase regional experiences and good practices. It will contribute to the international recognition of the sports management situation in Central European countries.
As a unique platform, the Budapest conference aims to bring together the cultural, economic and sports management specificities of Central and Eastern Europe with the international professional community, while the programs will be outstanding both professionally and experientially.
