One of the key topics of the European Association for Sport Management (EASM) conference, taking place in Budapest this September, is Strategy, Leadership, and Stakeholder Management in Sport. An interview was made with Professor Tamás Sterbenz, Rector of the host institution, the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) in connection with the subject.
From September 2 to 5, the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) will host the 2025 conference of the European Association for Sport Management (EASM). This prestigious event will cover a wide range of topics, one of the most important and intriguing of which is titled Strategy, Leadership, and Stakeholder Management in Sport.
Tamás Sterbenz, Rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) and co-editor of the Hungarian university textbook Sport Management, believes that the international world of sport is heading into an exciting era, not only in terms of its own development, but also due to dramatic global changes in politics and commerce that could significantly impact the sector.
This is precisely why it is essential that leaders with a strategic mindset, who represent the core values of sport, guide sports organizations and lead the process of change.
As competition systems undergo transformation, decisions that preserve the spirit of sport and protect athletes’ health, while also considering everyday economic interests, can only be made by involving all stakeholders.
He discusses these topics, among others, in a video interview.
